Silicate is pretty fast, so with any reasonably up to date system this should be your go to answer for everything latency related. Frequently, a independent sound card will shorten the signal chain in the box and most importantly encode the signal locally. After a lot of googling I couldnt find any external soundcards that seem to work for me. I just want to be able to play my keyboard and directly hear the sound from by boxes, so I know what I’m playing without noticeable input lag. I can route everything into Reaktor using the Fireface routing but it uses up all of my out’s, even using the headphones channels. I need to be able to connect my Midi keyboard Studiologic Acuna88 , possibly a standard microphone and my electric guitar.

If you connect a MIDI keyboard and try to play a few notes on, you will notice there is very good latency. This will change with Asio4all installed. I just can’t wrap my head around this whole ASIO, audio interface and driver stuff, so I have one simple question: I did try to reduce it down to 0, however it sounds like a latency of 50ms comparing to Creative labs ASIO 2.
What brand and model is your laptop, or more interesting, which sound chip does it use? I’d like to have 2.

It makes sense Microsoft would respond to the need for such a basic mod to the OS Steinberg made, when users would go to Linux instead if necessary. All times are GMT What this means is that it Asio4All can help with the problem, a little, hopefully enough to make playing the keyboard less annoying.
